Yorkshire County Asylum, Stanley Royd Hospital

Opening in 1818 and closing in 1995 and subsequently being converted to housing, Stanley Royd Hospital was the first Pauper Asylum to be opened in Yorkshire.  Seen here is a rare glimpse of life inside an asylum building, brought to us by SilverStealth.  Click to play the video.
